Baracuta

Origin
Baracuta was founded in Manchester in 1937 by brothers John and Isaac Miller. The brand is known worldwide for its iconic G9 Harrington jacket, originally designed as a practical golf jacket. A distinctive feature of the G9 is the Fraser tartan lining, introduced in 1938 in collaboration with Lord Lovat, Chief of Clan Fraser. This design feature not only gives the jacket style but also a deep-rooted connection to Scottish heritage.

Iconic
The G9 Harrington jacket has become a symbol of British style over the years and has been worn by numerous iconic figures, including Steve McQueen, Elvis Presley, and Damon Albarn. Its timeless design and versatile wearability have made it a favorite across various subcultures, from mods to rockabillys. Of particular note is the unique "umbrella" design of the back yoke, originally developed to shed rainwater—a functional detail that makes the jacket both practical and stylish.

design
Despite its nearly century-old design, the G9 Harrington jacket remains a contemporary fashion item. Baracuta has continuously evolved the jacket, including through collaborations with modern brands such as Engineered Garments and Noah, which add fresh touches to the classic silhouette. This adaptability demonstrates the timeless relevance of the G9 and its ability to continually reinvent itself while maintaining its original essence.
